9-21 Memento Mori

(I saw this Latin phrase, looked it up and it spawned this most recent one)

Memento Mori

The orange month has arrived.
Melancholy. Still here and live.
Arthritic knees
Coffee revives

These mornings—crisp, clear—doves coo.
Strolling barefoot through grassy dew:
Languorous bees
Hydrangea blue.

Leaves of yellow, gold and red
Cascade and form a blanket bed
Before the freeze
Promised ahead,

Leaves warm creatures’ icy degrees
Under snug spread.
