9-1 Spooning

I attended a day-long poetry workshop months ago, and of all things, while getting a cup of yogurt, the muse got me, and hence:

Spooning submerged granola under strawberry yogurt

in a wine glass is like—nothing! Any simile profanes.

Spooning granola under strawberry yogurt

is pure metaphor—transporting me,

spoonful after spoonful

as I shut my eyelids

munching, slurping, my mind

seated still in a dark movie theater

until I scrape up the last crunch,

lick the last pink drop…
