6-21 Free Choice

It is arresting, to realize daily the many choices and options we have; the body does nothing until the mind directs it so. But “free” will? Christianity denies it; read Romans 7:14-25.

Free Choice

A blessing and a curse embeds every choice—

The mind roots branches of good or evil,

life or death—according to heeded voices

Spoken, in the garden primeval.

Before us always is water and fire;

The hand will reach to whichever we choose,

Whether by faithless or faithful desire.

He gave us power to pick and choose—

and to claim, or to excuse.
