5-30 Free Choice

Easy to forget we are driven by decisions, and every choice has consequences. The body doesn’t move, until the mind tells it to. Is not “free” will a delusion?

Free Choice

A blessing and a curse embeds every choice—

The mind roots branches of good or evil,

life or death—according to heeded voices

Spoken, in the garden primeval.

Before us always is water and fire;

The hand will reach to whichever we choose,

Whether by faithless or faithful desire.

He gave us power to pick and choose—

and to claim, or to excuse.
